Posted 9 March, 2020. Times are changing and Skoda might be off the hook. Currently they produce something like 2,200 DQ200 DSG a day. So the 1.0 & 1.5 TSI's will be going Mild Hybrid with a 7 speed DSG. That might well have the DSG's being more reliable as they are now going to be made to suit that applications.
I think they will prove reliable. What bothers me is the huge price difference between the manual and DSG: 1700 euros while the others car makers were asking around 1000 euros. Only Mercedes was pricier, with 2000 euros extra but their DCT gearbox has mostly good reviews and I would trust it anytime. 1.

The transmission is controlled by an electronic control unit (ECU). Tiptronic S is a modernized Tiptronic technology, which has the capacity to adjust to the driver’s driving style and allows driver to shift gears without switching to the manual mode. This solution was introduced in 2000 for the Porsche Boxster.
Despite these concerns, my family purchased a Skoda Slavia 1.5 DSG with a similar mindset. When it comes to the reliability of the DSG gearbox, while there have been a few instances of failure, the overall prevalence of issues might be exaggerated. It's worth noting that mechanical failures can happen with any type of gearbox.
Skoda is gearing up to launch their new mid-size SUV known as Kushaq. It will be launching in June with deliveries starting in July. The Kushaq will be available in two engine options and two gearbox options. One of which will be the DQ200 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This transmission has had a bad rep of having failures in the past. However, when a Twitter user asked that if
• Long-term reliability concerns over the DQ200 DSG transmission • 1.5L TDI is loud & gruffy at high rpm. Not as explosive as the outgoing 1.6L TDI either • Tall rear floor hump makes the Rapid more suited as a 4 seater, than 5 • This model is now among the oldest from the C2 sedan segment. Fresher alternatives are available
@DB72 MK3 MY2020 are all sold with DSG gearbox as standard spec. in France. The only one possibility to get a manual gearbox is to chose the TDI150 engine. I think it's a significant proof on how VAG group trust their DSG gearbox reliability In addition I've read some rare issues with coolant fluid leakages on TDI190 engines..
